場の空気をデザインする ――。 吉田愛率いる、etc inc.のデジタルデザイン!Designing the air of a place —

For the web project of etc inc., led by Ai Yoshida, we handled design and motion, along with the technical direction of the build and CMS, under the direction of one inc. At etc inc., the practice reaches beyond spatial design itself, into the et cetera — the things left over, uncategorised — considering a place's way of being as one continuous whole, across disciplinary boundaries. To design a website that conveys this sense of atmosphere, we arranged photography and text within a grid layout, with restrained, unwasted margins. That same grid appears in the work scope as well: beneath the title on each project page, the scope of work is rendered in gradients of light and dark, taking on a different appearance from project to project. For scroll and page transitions, we used soft, gentle animation, designed to give the site a catalogue-like look.
